November 27, 2007
In the position that has featured the least turnover in the history of the franchise, it is now time to re-visit the players that have played second base for the Marlins in the team’s history.
Over the years the Marlins have had five different players start at second base, here is a breakdown.

Where are the First Basemen now?
November 21, 2007
We’ve looked at the catchers, now it’s time to look at all the regular starting first basemen in Marlins history.
1993
Orestes Destrade - Not only was Destrade the original first baseman of the Florida Marlins franchise but he also has the prestige of getting the first double in team history. Before signing with the Marlins, he played in Japan for the Seibu Lions and led the league in home runs for three consecutive years. In the franchise’s inaugural season and his only as a major league regular, Destrade hit .255 with 20 home runs and 87 runs driven in. After 1993, he remained with the Marlins in ‘94 but was limited to 130 at bats. Following the 1994 season, Destrade was granted free agency. He’d go on to play in Japan for 1 season before retiring. Destrade can now be seen on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight.
So It’s Come To This: Marlins Shop Cabrera, Willis
November 7, 2007
The question was never really “if,” but rather, “when.”
And we got our answer: The “when” is this off-season.
Of course, I’m talking about the Marlins looking to trade Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis, the two players most closely identified with the franchise at this time. It was bound to happen, and only the rose-colored glasses-wearing fans could see it any other way. Until this team gets a stadium, don’t look for any long-term deals for anyone. That includes Dan Uggla, Hanley Ramirez, and whatever other future hero will come down the pike in South Florida.
Interview with prospect Andy Jenkins
November 6, 2007
Andy Jenkins was taken by the Marlins in the 11th round of the 2005 amateur draft. Spending his college days playing for Oregon State, Andy was named a Pac-10 Conference All-Star at first base during his senior year. He put up an impressive 2007 campaign in High-A Jupiter, and looks to start out the 2008 season in Double-A. While Andy Jenkins may not be the most talked about Marlins prospect, he provides a valuable combination of solid offense and defensive versatility. Andy was nice enough to take the time to answer a few questions via online interview.
