Fish Split Friday Games

The Marlins had a split squad today sending half the team to take on the Washington Nationals while the other half faced off against the Baltimore Orioles. Coincidentally, the Nats and O’s are the only teams the Marlins have played thus far this Spring.
The Marlins defeated the Nationals by a score of 4-1. Starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco got the win while the starter for the Nats, Tyler Clippard took the loss. Alejandro De Aza hit a home run in this game, his 2nd day in a row with a homer. De Aza is now batting .600 with 2 round trippers and and 6 runs batted in this Spring. The Marlins made two errors in this game leading to one unearned run off of reliever Lee Gardner.

The Marlins will be playing two games today in a doubleheader Spring Training style. One game will be against the Baltimore Orioles who the fish defeated on Thursday while another game will be against the Washington Nationals who the Marlins tied on Wednesday. The Marlins record for the Grapefruit League is currently 1-0-1. Here are the details for today’s games:

A day after a pitcher’s duel with the Washington Nationals, the Marlins traveled to Fort Lauderdale today and beat the Baltimore Orioles 16-3. Sergio Mitre started the game for the Marlins but had to leave in the first with an arm injury. Andrew Miller made his debut in relief and went 2 scoreless innings. Other pitchers who appeared were Daniel Barone, Justin Miller, Matt Lindstrom, Renyel Pinto, Brett Sinkbeil, and Marcos Carvajal. Alejandro De Aza hit a grand slam in the 9th inning to add to the run total for the fish. Other Marlins who had runs batted in today were Brett Carroll (3), Jorge Cantu (1), Dan Uggla (1), Gaby Sanchez (1), Cameron Maybin (1), and Cody Ross (3) who added a HR as well.
Marlins vs Orioles Preview

The Marlins travel to Fort Lauderdale today to take on the Baltimore Orioles. Sergio Mitre will start the game for the Marlins, and Andrew Miller is scheduled to pitch out of the bullpen as well. A few lineup regulars are expected to make the trip. Here are the details for the game:
