Fish Fight Back, Fall Short

April 30, 2008

Tuesday was the start of a 9 game home stand for the Marlins and it got off on a sour note.   Facing the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Marlins dropped the game by the score of 7-6.    The fish were down 5-0 and 6-1 early and fought back to tie the game at six courtesy of clutch defense, relief pitching, and of course offense but in the end the pitching wasn’t enough as the Dodgers scored the winning run in the 9th.

Marlins Have Winning Trip

April 28, 2008

The Marlins’ 2nd road trip of the season came to an end on Sunday on a winning note as the fish picked up a 3-2 win in 10 innings over the Brewers.   The Marlins wound up with a 4-3 record on the seven game, three city trip that took them to Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Milwaukee.

Ricky Nolasco made the start for the Marlins and struggled early, throwing a lot of pitches and bringing early fears that the bullpen might have a long day.  In the end, Nolasco lasted 5 innings surrendering only 2 hits and 1 earned run.   Everyone in the bullpen got into the game for at least one out with Kevin Gregg pitching the 10th for his 4th save of the season.   Renyel Pinto rebounded from a tough outing by striking out the only batter he faced.
