Fish Top Mets for 3rd Straight

Fresh off a doubleheader sweep, the Marlins arrived in New York on Monday and kicked off the road trip with a series opening win against the New York Mets by the score of 7-3. With the win, the Marlins moved to 10 games over .500 for the first time since September 2005. The fish also maintained a 2 game lead in the National League East with their 3rd straight win.

Marlins Sweep Doubleheader

The Marlins completed a sweep of a Sunday doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants with a 5-4 win. The fish game one by the score of 8-6. With the two wins in one day, the fish improved their lead in the National League East to 2 games and notched their record up to 29-20. Dan Uggla brought home the winning run in the bottom of the 9th with a sharp line drive up the middle.

View From Stands: The Showdown In Shea

Tonight the Marlins return to the scene of the crime. For the first time since the tense, emotional series that ended the 2007 season (for both teams), the Marlins travel to Shea Stadium to meet the Mets and, hopefully, once again, beat the Mets. Roles are reversed as the Marlins come in now as the division leaders and the Mets are trying to hold onto life for this season. This is a key series for both teams.
