Another Tough Loss

Miller allowed 4 runs (2 earned) in 5 innings pitched. He allowed 3 walks while striking out six but threw 102 pitches in short time on the mound putting a strain on the bullpen. Doug Waechter pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief. Justin Miller and Renyel Pinto both continued to struggle as they both allowed runs during their time on the mound. Miller gave up two earned runs while Pinto gave up one. Matt Lindstrom pitched the 9th inning for the fish and allowed no runs in two thirds of an inning.
Dan Uggla continued his power surge with his 13th home run of the season in a 3-3 game. Uggla is now hitting .313 for the season and is having a record May. With the home run on Friday, Uggla tied the Marlins’ record for home runs in a month with 8. For the month overall Uggla is hitting .400 with 8 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Jeremy Hermida hit a homer of his own which was his 5th of the year. The home run came in the 9th inning with the Marlins down three cutting the lead to one. Wes Helms had a 2 hit game as he continued to fill in for Mike Jacobs who may be returning to the lineup on Saturday.
The series will continue on Saturday as the Marlins try to snap their 4 game losing streak. Scott Olsen will pitch for the Marlins while the Royals will counter with Brian Bannister.
