Marlins Drop Third In A Row

The Florida Marlins came into their third game in Cincinnati tying their longest losing streak of the season with two. The last place Reds (18-23) have proven a worthy opponent against the first place Fish, who came into Cincinnati with a seven game winning streak.

Mike Jacobs and Josh Willingham were left out of the starting lineup once again for the Fish. Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco took the mound to face Bronson Arroyo. Nolasco and Arroyo dueled it out until the fifth inning, when Nolasco gave up two runs. Some mediocre base-running by Matt Treanor and Hanley Ramirez, as well as a crucial error by Jorge Cantu, forced the Marlins to face a 0-6 deficit by the ninth.

Marlins Drop Another To Reds

After their win streak was snapped on Monday, the Marlins lost a 2nd consecutive game to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday by the score of 5-3. Rookie of the Year candidate, Edinson Volquez made the start for the Reds and gave the fish the same treatment he’s been giving Major League teams all year on his way to his 6th win. Mark Hendrickson started for the Marlins and only last 5 innings in a game where he struggled with his control.

Streak Ends in Close Loss

The winning streak was snapped at 7 on Monday in a hard fought loss to the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 8-7. The Marlins still have a tie for the best record in Major League Baseball despite the loss at 23-15. Burke Badenhop had his 3rd solid start in a row for the fish as he continued to solidify his rotation spot.

MLB Best Marlins Win 7th Straight

The winning streak continued for the Marlins on Sunday in a game where it appeared to be nearing it’s end. The Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 5-4 to improve the streak to 7 in a row.  With the win, the Marlins now have the best record in Major League Baseball at 23-14. The Marlins fell behind early and didn’t take over the lead until the 8th inning with a rally of home runs. Scott Olsen struggled a little but settled in as his day came to a close and kept the team in the game. Dan Uggla hit a pair of homers as he continued his hot streak.

Streak Hits Six in Romp

On Saturday in Washington D.C., the Marlins grabbed their 6th win in a row with a 11-0 win over the Nationals. The win moved the Marlins to 8 games over the .500 mark for the first time since September 2005. It also is the Marlins’ best record through 36 games in franchise history as they continued to shatter franchise records. Lost in all the offense, and streaks was a phenomenal pitching performance by Andrew Miller who turned in his best start as a Marlin so far.
