The loss snapped a 3 game winning streak and handed rookie Andrew Miller his 4th loss of the season to even his record at 4-4. The fish saw their lead in the National League East sliced to 1.5 games with the loss as well.

Miller lasted 4.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs and 3 walks. Three of the runs came in the first inning as Miller settled in until the 5th when he got into a jam and was removed from the game in favor of Logan Kensing who worked a scoreless third of an inning. Joe Nelson worked for a second straight game and pitched 2 innings allowing 1 earned run. Matt Lindstrom added a scoreless inning in the 8th to lower his E.R.A. to 2.84 for the season.

Cody Ross his his 7th home run of the season in the game in a 2 hit day. Luis Gonzalez added a two hit game of his own. Outside of Ross, Gonzalez and a Jorge Cantu run batted in, the offense was quiet including another tough day for Hanley Ramirez who struck out three times.

The series will conclude on Wednesday as the Marlins send Scott Olsen to the hill to take on Oliver Perez for the Mets.
