Fish Roll Over Orioles

A day after a pitcher’s duel with the Washington Nationals, the Marlins traveled to Fort Lauderdale today and beat the Baltimore Orioles 16-3. Sergio Mitre started the game for the Marlins but had to leave in the first with an arm injury. Andrew Miller made his debut in relief and went 2 scoreless innings. Other pitchers who appeared were Daniel Barone, Justin Miller, Matt Lindstrom, Renyel Pinto, Brett Sinkbeil, and Marcos Carvajal. Alejandro De Aza hit a grand slam in the 9th inning to add to the run total for the fish. Other Marlins who had runs batted in today were Brett Carroll (3), Jorge Cantu (1), Dan Uggla (1), Gaby Sanchez (1), Cameron Maybin (1), and Cody Ross (3) who added a HR as well.
The winning pitcher was Daniel Barone who replaced the injured Mitre in the first. Adam Loewen took the loss for the Orioles. The Marlins record in the Grapefruit league is now 1-0-1. On Friday the fish have a split squad with games against the Orioles and Washington Nationals on the schedule.
