Fish Unable To Sweep
April 25, 2008 by Larry Walansky
Another two game series came to an end on Thursday and once again the Marlins were unable to complete the sweep. This time it was the Atlanta Braves who kept the Marlins’ brooms off the field with a 6-4 win. This follows up on the missed sweep chance in Pittsburgh a few days ago. Still, the Marlins came away with a split in Atlanta and that is never a bad thing. The loss brought the Marlins record to 13-9 on the season.
Burke Badenhop made the start for the Marlins and gave up 6 earned runs in 5 innings. Badenhop’s runs all came in the first two innings of work. After Badenhop was lifted, Logan Kensing entered the game and worked two scoreless innings. Doug Waechter pitched the last inning of the game for fish and gave up 1 run. The run was caused in part by a misplay in right field by Jeremy Hermida however it was earned.
On the offensive side of the field for the fish, Josh Willingham hit his 6th homer of the season and had all 4 runs batted in for the game. Willingham went 3-4 raising his average to .329 for the season. The bats were mostly quiet for the rest of the Marlins.
The Marlins head to Milwaukee on Friday to take on the Brewers. Scott Olsen will face off against Yovani Gallardo.
