Grapefruit Season Starts With Tie

February 27, 2008 by Larry Walansky

The Marlins took on the Washington Nationals today in the first game of the 2008 Grapefruit League season.   The game ended in a 3-3 tie.   Scott Olsen got the start for the Marlins while Matt Chico countered for the Nationals.   Many lineup regulars saw action for the Marlins.  Olsen lasted 2 innings surrendering two hits while striking out one and walking none.   The Marlins fell behind 2-1 in the 6th inning before Mike Jacobs delivered a go-ahead two run inning in the bottom half of the inning.   The fish would hold the 3-2 lead until the 9th when Marcus Gwyn ran into some trouble and surrendered the tying run.    The Marlins failed to put across a run in the bottom half of the 9th to clinch the tie.
