ramirez810.jpgHanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla are both headed to Yankee Stadium for the 2008 All Star Game.   Ramirez was voted in by the fans and will start the game.   Uggla was picked by the players and coaches as a reserve for the game.  This will be Ramirez’s 1st and Uggla’s 2nd appearance in the Mid-Summer Classic.

Ramirez becomes the first fish to ever start the season as a Marlin and be voted into the All Star Game.   The only other Marlin to ever start the game was Gary Sheffield however he started that season as a member of the San Diego Padres before being traded to Florida.

Uggla was an All-Star in his rookie season after being a Rule V selection of the Marlins.    Before being injured, Uggla was pacing the majors in home runs but has fallen from the top spot due to his injured ankle.  Despite missing time, the Marlins 2nd baseman still sits 1 HR shy of the lead only behind Chase Utley of the Phillies who was voted in as the starter for the game.

The All Star Game will take place on July 15th at 8:00 PM on the FOX Network.
