On Saturday in Washington D.C., the Marlins grabbed their 6th win in a row with a 11-0 win over the Nationals. The win moved the Marlins to 8 games over the .500 mark for the first time since September 2005. It also is the Marlins’ best record through 36 games in franchise history as they continued to shatter franchise records. Lost in all the offense, and streaks was a phenomenal pitching performance by Andrew Miller who turned in his best start as a Marlin so far.

Miller lasted 7 innings in which he gave up 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7 and allowing no runs. Miller retired 15 batters in a row at point and looked sharp all night long. This was his second straight quality start following up on his last outing of 6 innings against the San Diego Padres. Taylor Tankersley and Matt Lindstrom each added scoreless innings of their own to finish off the pitching side of things for the fish.

There was a lot of offense tonight in an explosion of runs against Nationals pitching. The Marlins have now scored 31 runs in their last 4 games combined. Dan Uggla hit his first career grand slam and had 5 runs batted in total for the game. Cody Ross and Wes Helms added solo homers of their own, both of which were their 2nd of the season. Hanley Ramirez fresh off a new longterm contract negotiation went 1-2 with 2 walks and continued to be an on base machine in the #3 spot of the lineup.

On Sunday, the series against the Nationals will wrap up as Scott Olsen faces off against Shawn Hill.
