Highly touted prospect Ryan Tucker made his big league debut on Sunday for the Marlins and came away a winner as the fish beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-2. The win was the Marlins second in a row and kept them 3.5 games behind the streaking first place Phillies. Hanley Ramirez hit 2 home runs in the game and the Marlins as a team amassed 13 hits.

The fireworks started early tonight as outfielder Cody Ross capped off a heroic ninth inning with a 2-run walk off bomb to right centerfield, his 11th home run of the season. The Marlins scored 8 runs on 11 hits and 6 walks in what became their first win against the Cincinnati Reds this season. Florida’s victory may have come just in time for the recently struggling team. The Marlins have been headed in the wrong direction as of late, winning only four times since May 26th when the team started its grueling road trip through the NL East. Now the Fish are home and looking to reverse their fortunes in a 4-game series versus the Reds.

The Marlins got back into the win column on Saturday courtesy of Cody Ross’ bat in the bottom of the 9th. Ross’ walkoff home run gave the Marlins an 8-7 win over the Cincinnati Reds. In a game marred by ugly defense, and blown leads, the fish came out on top in the form of a blown save charged to Reds closer Francisco Cordero. The win kept the Marlins 3.5 games behind the first place Phillies.

The Marlins dropped a 2nd game in a row on Friday, and it was their 5th loss in the last 6 games. The final of this one was 11-3 with the Cincinnati Reds coming out on top. Rookie Andrew Miller made the start and struggled against the potent Reds lineup. With the loss, the fish fell 3.5 back of the first place Phillies in the N.L. East.
