The Marlins’ struggles in Colorado continued on Saturday as the Rockies came away 12-6 winners. Rookie Ryan Tucker made the start and allowed 8 earned runs in only four innings of work in possibly his last start in the majors. The Marlins did have some good news on this day as the Phillies also lost keeping the fish 3.5 games back of first place despite a three game losing streak.

MIAMI - Welcome back Josh Willingham is what most of the Marlins will be saying after Monday night’s game. Willingham went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI including the game-winner in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the host Florida Marlins a 6-5 win over Washington and move the Marlins to within half a game of the first-place idle Phillies.

Matt Garza pitched the game of his career one night after his collegiate alma mater won the college world series as a huge underdog.
Garza pitched a one-hitter, only allowing a Hanley Ramirez lead off home run in the seventh inning, facing only one batter over the minimum to lead the visiting Tampa Bay Rays to a 6-1 win over the Florida Marlins and complete a three-game sweep in the Citrus Series.

The Marlins fell to the Oakland Athletics on Friday by the score of 7-6 in 11 innings. Following two comebacks by the Marlins in the 8th and 9th innings, the A’s brought home the winning run after an error by Luis Gonzalez in left field. The fish stayed two back of the Philadelphia Phillies as the first place team in the NL East lost as well.

The Marlins closed the gap to 2 games in the National League East with a 8-3 win over the Mariners on Wednesday. The win gave the Marlins a series win in their first ever visit to Seattle and ended a string of 20 games in 20 days. With the win, the fish are now 39-33 and have won three of their last four games.
