Fish Hop Over Brewers

Burke Badenhop picked up his first career big league win on Wednesday as the Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2. The win was the Marlins 3rd in a row and brought their win total for the season to 19 and brought them five games over .500 for the first time since April 27th. This was also the Marlins 4th win over the Brewers in 5 tries. With the win, the Marlins maintain their first place position in the National League East for at least one more day.

Rabelo called up; Hoover sent down

According to the Marlins post-game show following the Marlins 4-3 win over the Nationals on Thursday night, it was reported by Tommy Hutton and Rich Waltz that catcher Mike Rabelo had been recalled from his injury rehab assignment with the Jupiter Hammerheads and would be joining the team in Houston.

Andino Leads Extra Special Win

The Marlins jumped out early in game two of the season getting to future Hall of Famer, Pedro Martinez for 4 runs in the first 2 innings. The young right handed Netherlands native, Rick VandenHurk struggled with control and therefore pitch count from the start and couldn’t make it out of the 4th inning. Courtesy of VandenHurk and reliever Renyel Pinto, the Mets quickly tied the game up 4-4.

Spring Recap - 3/25

As Spring Training neared closer to it’s end today, the Marlins lost a game to the Orioles 8-1.   Former Opening Day starter hopeful, Scott Olsen took the loss in a tough outing.   Olsen lasted 4 innings and gave up 6 earned runs raising concerns about how much he is behind due to an injury earlier this Spring.   He is expected to start the 4th game of the season vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates.   Logan Kensing, Kevin Gregg, and Chris Leroux added scoreless innings for the fish.   Justin Miller had a rough inning out of the pen giving up 2 earned runs and 3 walks.    The only run for the fish today came courtesy of a Mike Jacobs RBI pinch hit.
