Marlins Drop Third In A Row

The Florida Marlins came into their third game in Cincinnati tying their longest losing streak of the season with two. The last place Reds (18-23) have proven a worthy opponent against the first place Fish, who came into Cincinnati with a seven game winning streak.

Mike Jacobs and Josh Willingham were left out of the starting lineup once again for the Fish. Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco took the mound to face Bronson Arroyo. Nolasco and Arroyo dueled it out until the fifth inning, when Nolasco gave up two runs. Some mediocre base-running by Matt Treanor and Hanley Ramirez, as well as a crucial error by Jorge Cantu, forced the Marlins to face a 0-6 deficit by the ninth.

Division race will make for a long summer.

It is only the second week in May, and it looks like the marathon race for the NL East will be a tight one all summer long. Division foes Florida, Philadelphia, New York and Atlanta are all within 1.5 games of each other and it does not look like a leader will pull away anytime soon.
