Marlins Lose in 12th

The Marlins dropped a 2nd game in a row and a series to the New York Mets on Wednesday by the score of 7-6. It was a back and forth battle that saw the Marlins score one in the top of the 12th only to surrender 2 in the bottom half of the inning for the loss. Scott Olsen made the start for the Marlins, and Justin Miller took the loss in the 12th with a rough outing. The loss decreased the Marlins lead in the National League East to 1.5 games.

Fish Drop Close Game

The Marlins dropped Tuesday’s game against the New York Mets by the score of 5-3. The loss snapped a 3 game winning streak and handed rookie Andrew Miller his 4th loss of the season to even his record at 4-4. The fish saw their lead in the National League East sliced to 1.5 games with the loss as well.

Fish Top Mets for 3rd Straight

Fresh off a doubleheader sweep, the Marlins arrived in New York on Monday and kicked off the road trip with a series opening win against the New York Mets by the score of 7-3. With the win, the Marlins moved to 10 games over .500 for the first time since September 2005. The fish also maintained a 2 game lead in the National League East with their 3rd straight win.

View From Stands: The Showdown In Shea

Tonight the Marlins return to the scene of the crime. For the first time since the tense, emotional series that ended the 2007 season (for both teams), the Marlins travel to Shea Stadium to meet the Mets and, hopefully, once again, beat the Mets. Roles are reversed as the Marlins come in now as the division leaders and the Mets are trying to hold onto life for this season. This is a key series for both teams.

That is the time when everything going on in the season is taken seriously and the national media takes a closer look at the teams that are contending. Within these couple of weeks, the Marlins will have their challenges as they attempt to prove that they are worthy to be considered a legitimate contender for the title of 2008 National League East Champions or the Wild Card winner.
